Therapy for the ones who hold it all together.

Serving Massachusetts, Rhode Island, & Oregon

Supporting helping professionals and mothers navigating burnout, parenting stress, and life’s messy transitions.

To the one who takes care of everyone else —

It’s a familiar rhythm: the harsh self-criticism, getting stuck in “anxiety spirals,” and feeling like you’re constantly at the bottom of your own to-do list. Despite caring so much for others, you may feel like you are performing life instead of living it.

When we first meet, you may find it difficult to slow down and be present.

You may be caught up in “please or fix” patterns in your relationships, leading to burnout and resentment. You worry that being drained is just your “new normal.”

Change can be scary, but necessary.

I’m passionate about helping my clients move from survival mode into a life that feels more like theirs again. My approach is intentional, compassionate, and trauma-informed:

  • Somatic and Attachment-Focused EMDR: We’ll work to process past experiences — including birth trauma and vicarious trauma — so they no longer feel “stuck,” impacting your daily life or your parenting.

  • ACT for Mindfulness and Meaning: We’ll use Acceptance and Commitment Therapy to help you unhook from perfectionistic thoughts, manage burnout, and reconnect with what matters to you.

Experiencing more peace and mental clarity is possible. Asking for support isn’t a sign that you’re failing; it’s a form of strength.

We weren’t meant to do this work in isolation.

If you’d like to work toward meaningful and sustainable change, I’d be happy to help.

Does this sound like you?

You might:

  • Chronically overthink. You get stuck in “analysis paralysis,” playing out every scenario.

  • Feel “tired but wired.” You feel exhausted, but your brain won’t let you fall asleep at night.

  • Live in the “shoulds.” You struggle with self-doubt or imposter syndrome and feel like you’re never doing enough.

  • Have a shorter fuse. You feel irritable or snap easily at others.

  • Be the “yes” person. You have a hard time saying “no” to requests even at your own expense.

  • View rest as a chore. You find it challenging to slow down or simply be.

  • Feel like a stranger to yourself. You don’t recognize yourself in this season of life.

Hi, I’m Nicole, LMHC, LPC

Nicole Smith, LMHC, LPC in her home office in The Greater Boston Area, ready to meet with clients virtually for trauma-informed counseling throughout Massachusetts, Rhode Island, and Oregon.

I specialize in supporting ‘the nurturers’ — helping professionals and moms — as they navigate burnout, parenting stress, and challenging past experiences.

I use traditional talk therapy and Somatic and Attachment-Focused EMDR (S.A.F.E) to help clients find relief and reconnect with themselves. While talk therapy can lead to insights and skill building, EMDR can often help your body and brain process the root causes of your concerns.

We might focus on:

  • Attachment: Attending to early relational wounds that can resurface in parenting or drive patterns of over-functioning.

  • Somatic Awareness: Helping professionals and moms can carry the weight of their world in their bodies. We’ll work with your nervous system to release stored tension.

Together, we’ll work on quieting the noise of anxiety and helping you feel more grounded and present in your own life.
